These are the 16 basic hand positions that I teach my Traditional and Sensory Reiki students. The hand positions are only a guideline. The healing power of Reiki goes where it is needed and some practitioners, like myself, don't use them during session. Also,

Reiki is light tough or no touch. Do whichever feels good to your soul. You can do these position in a chair, sitting down or laying down. (some of these are difficult laying down)

I suggest holding each position for 30 seconds to 1 minutes when you first begin your Self Reiki journey. Then you can work up to 5-10 minutes.

Position 1- Hands over your eyes

Position 2- Hands on the top of yor head

Position 3- Hands on the side of your temples

Position 4- Hands behind your head with your fingers touching

Position 5- Hands around your neck

Position 6- One hand across your collarbone and the other at the center of your chest making a "T"

Position 7- Hands over the upper part of your chest

Position 8- Hands above your navel

Position 9- Hands under your navel

Position 10- Hands over your pelvic bone

Position 11- Hands on your shoulders

Position 12- Hands at the middle of your back

Position 13- Hands at your lower back

Position 14- Hands at your tailbone

Position 15- Hands on your knees

Position 16- Hands on your feet
